The oddness of this is indescribable . Couple weeks ago I’m messing around with the amazon associate program site and create a quick a-store. I want to populate every category with my personal prefs to really get a handle on the task flows etc.. Anyways, I’m beefing up the music section and I’m thinking about my cult classic faves that really bent me in my direction and ‘fugazi’ comes to mind ‘repeater’. I haven’t listened to any thing by them in days I’ve heard of the members solo/side projects and barely kept up; but, later after intoxicated with my new drink the idea plopped into my head to dl a repeater track. I must’ve been in the zone because during the listen I had one of those nitros like connections that feeds and fades into everything. Note, I posted my lame amazon store to a dude that I follow on g.buzz. http://www.amazon.angelrobertmarquez.com, that I have no business exchanging thoughts with but I do, as well a couple days before. BUT this is the weird part. An old friend contacts me the next day and says I was listening to fugazi and thought of you. I haven’t spoken to him in like 6 years. Anywho we had a quick mobile re acquaintance and exchanged some tunes. Thanks for the lungfish, arches of loaf and how could I forget JAWBREAKER tracks! UNFUN was a definite time capsule keeper. I recorded this track after digesting HGG’s tracks and some others. It came straight out… the next morning my electric guitar (tele-vibro) was lying on the floor face first…

By the way dude mentioned above is a drummer and we’ve known each other since like junior high. AND we both at one point had the Jerry Garcia glasses passed down to us from our peer musician mentors who happened to be in the same band. To clear that one up…the dude that gave me guitar theory lessons when I was like 14 was in my drivers ed class. Anyhow he knew I was interested in playing guitar and just bought an electric, he gave me his number and I called and he played the Randy Rhoads suicide solution solo and some Yngwie craziness(arpeggios, pedal point, sweep picking…) and asked if I wanted to play like that and I was all f*ck yea. Anyways we became friends and during one of the final lessons he got all serious and said ‘I have to give you something’ . He pulls out this rickety little rusted metal case and creaks it open and inside is a pair of purplish tinted rose colored glasses sitting on top of a piece of purple velvet fabric. Then he begins to tell me the story how they are Jerry Garcia’s glasses and they have been passed down friend to friend for sometime and he needed to give them to me and who gave them to him. The deal was if you held on to em to long bad luck and make sure to give em to the right person. I gave em to girl. BUT years later I’m with HGG and we are smashed and he tells me about how he had the glasses at one point. I wonder where Jerry’s glasses are now. I think that would be a neat social web project to track down Jerry’s shades. Side note, that guy that I follow on g.buzz talks about the Grateful Dead often and that whole scene brings back some fun memories.

deepDIVE

Feeling the need to upload I started out thinking ‘fault’ would be a good one to record with the new set up. I moved the mics around and stepped away for a bit; so, everything sounds different. BUT while I was recording f, I had one of those moments. I just went off on a tangent/trip and decided to post the captured moment (deepDIVE). I refined the moment down to ’simpleFIRE’, for now. We’ll see what happens. I was picturing concentric circles exploding in waves creating the form of a beanstalk while I had some other weird thoughts during my trance(reality collides with self hypnosis). If I was an expert I would trace the entire trip back to when I started playing “norwegian wood” and only knew the opening lines the other day…along with all the other meaningless stuff that happens on a daily.

On another note, this guy I work with (maybe work for; but lets say with) says to me and I quote “behave, I know it’s tough”. Ha, I thought it was funny and can remember the two people that have used that funny word I’ll probably build a song around “BEHAVE”. He also told me he was going to some jazz festival this weekend. I let him know I liked “Miles Davis” (not said but implied ‘Bitches Brew’).

It’s difficult to prioritize this post. What is more important, the 2 dollar six packs of beer at Trader Joe’s, the girl standing in line in front of me at PETCO while I was getting my cat treats that had jeans on that had a picture of a buddha playing guitar when I had just left my place googling nirvana’s lounge act lyrics or the cuteness factor of my two little p*ssy cats (tigris:tigrisUhhhh when sang * Astra: Dizastrah or lil miss disastrah when pleaded to) and the factor of using X rated terminology to pirate SEO ranking.  It might be the 2 dollar beer I’m drinking as I write…

Ah, nirvana. The fondest of memories. This B-side track was always a fave of mine. I thought I’d mess with it for some inspirational lift and after I saw that girls behind telling me YES you are doing the right thing I couldn’t help but post it.

AND the 2 dollar beer at TJ’s people! As if the 2 dollar wine wasn’t a god send. That beer is jumping off the shelfs at your local market. If you are a real entrepreneur you’ll rent a U-Haul truck load up on cervesas drive over to coachella and sell half a beer in a plastic cup for 5 bucks and maybe hire some knuckle heads that think you’re cool to do all the selling and make out like a fat cat.

Anyways, back to my MGMT album evaluation thanks to dose. AND what has 2 thumbs didn’t have a job this morning BUT has one now? THIS GUY. Another little side story. I rented ‘new moon’ on blu ray and while it was playing in the background a song came on that made my ears do that thing my p*ssy cats do when they turn up in interest. So, I take a mental note. Movie ends and I do my menu phishing and low and behold! Girl I know and partied at her house back in my bay area days is right there listed with death cab, muse and her! wtf well now you know what I do on my friday evenings.

I was going to be funny and post a google search of my name and point out the impostors; but, since idea to execution the impostors have vanished. It was funny, a Angel R. Marquez with a mildy attractive girlfriend on facebook…I wanted you all to know that definitely is not me!

So, the kitty pic below is of my Tigrisa (my white cat) when I’m on the sofa playing the guitar she pulls upside and gives me some love. My Astra(my black cat) will chase her aways though and she’s a little more punk rock than Tigris the cuddler. Astra will take a piss right on me and run after and chase Tigris away. lol

The other pic of the poster that was hovering behind me before an interview the other day when I saw the girl I used to work with at a starbucks across the street…you would have to read my ’screenplay’. I’m going to open source it since I divulged it to a client during a meeting.

02 Fire

The above, one old one new. The below, when I was in Sweden I played music with a drummer & bassist ‘The Dead Bushes’(never saw the light of day; but, way fun). The bass player, Riku, now lives in Finland and works at a slaughter house. He sent me these pictures of a 6 legged lamb awhile back. It was bizarre we met in Gothenburg through my friend Chris, an American Werewolf in Sweden, who knew the drummer Stalin, left handed drummer (backwards set, helluv awkward to play), who worked at a coffee shop called java. Anyways we met and jammed that same night, it turned out they had just got a studio they had never played in and we de-virginized it together.  It was a trip the studio was right next to the biggest graveyard in Sweden; so, we would go smoke in the graveyard and than rock out. I had some recordings of that entire experience; but, I think an x girly girl swiped my tapes. After our first session I remember I had a flyer that I had found on the ground near the train that read guitarMageddon, the chihuahua. To make a long story short, we went to a bar called sticky fingers after the fist session and they happened to be  friends with the DJ chihuahua and  we got wasted….

Riku & Stalin turned me on to that band AIR and another called Ozric Tentacles. Also a movie called Baraka. Last heard Stalin moved to NYC with his band and Riku is family guy in Finland.

I nuked my sony vaio and rid myself of windows for good. I’m running linux, fedora 12, constantine. LOVE IT. I de-rezed my macbook too and was running ubuntu; but, that would have been the end of my recording career (I might be the only one this matters too). Pretty much I made the conscience decision that the OS creates the person the way that language creates the reality. Linux is free people and good. I seriously have had a way better trip using it. The deal with the mac is I have to get my ducks in order (sorry little duckies, I would never shoot you) before I make that big move. And it seems as if apple is hip to my outburst. The macbook keyboard mapping doesn’t play nice with the linux distro: but, the terminal is going to be my way in, if you know what I mean. if you don’t, don’t give me stink eye and accuse me of confusing you, your just way behind. I will help you if you accept my courtesy. So, the macbook OS cleansing will have to wait until I have a way of getting Adoure to communicate with the m-audio FTU, I found a solution already any others are welcome. I love the fact that the google translation included in chrome makes the solution I found available to me, it is in French. I’ve been waiting to really enjoy what I already knew to be cool, killer, uber rad. The apple service in sherman oaks was butt by the way; but, glendale saved the day. This just adds to the reasons why of initializing the commercial trash of the machines and reformatting those hard drives.

These two tracks are my attempt at getting back into my vocal routine. Dark forces made me lose my urge to express; but, I took care of that…

I have another tune that I think will break new ground…the words are slippery though. My original theme idea I think I need to toss and go with what my body tells me when I’m playing it. We’ll see. I’ll post both in textual form first and then guitar only, then the final.
